AS HE THINKETH IN HIS HEART

There is a place we all have in common, where we dwell in various stages of perception. It is in how we think, about ourselves, about others, about our world. Consider the following verses:

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

Proverbs 23:12 Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.

Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

2 Corinthians 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

There are many camps of thought prevalent today. Many would try to persuade with enticing words, encouraging others to join themselves to their camp. Does it make any difference what we think? Is it important who and what we connect with and to? Why do you suppose the scriptures tell us so much about our thought life?

Pro 16:1-4 The plans of the mind and orderly thinking belong to man, but from the Lord comes the [wise] answer of the tongue. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirits (the thoughts and intents of the heart). [I Sam. 16:7; Heb. 4:12.] Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed. The Lord has made everything [to accommodate itself and contribute] to its own end and His own purpose...even the wicked [are fitted for their role] for the day of calamity and evil.

Jeremiah 23:20 The anger of the Lord shall not turn back until He has executed and accomplished the thoughts and intents of His mind and heart. In the latter days you shall consider and understand it perfectly.

Jeremiah 30:24 The fierce anger and indignation of the Lord shall not turn back until He has executed and accomplished the thoughts and intents of His mind and heart. In the latter days you shall understand this.

Are there any that fail to acknowledge that these days are the days of which Jeremiah spoke? That we are in the latter days at this very moment? How do our thoughts line up with God's thoughts?

Malachi 3:16-18 Then those who feared the Lord talked often one to another; and the Lord listened and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him of those who reverenced and worshipfully feared the Lord and who thought on His name. And they shall be Mine, says the Lord of hosts, in that day when I publicly recognize and openly declare them to be My jewels (My special possession, My peculiar treasure). And I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him. Then shall you return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves God and him who does not serve Him.

Are we walking in the fear of the Lord? Are we willing to bring our thoughts into subjection to His thoughts?

Food for thought....

God Bless,
