Some thoughts this morning...
As I stumbled out of bed this morning, found my cup of coffee and the sleepy cobwebs were clearing out of my head, the Lord dropped a profound thought into my mind. The timing of this was indicative of how the Lord does things, when we are least expecting them. I saw John the Baptist...and Korah...connected in a way that I had never seen before.
Having recently been 'set in my place again' by a forum moderator, I was thinking on the many sided and often conflicting visions, or expectations that people hold. I have been hearing a cry going forth for "unity in the body." Which is code for saying, "agree with me, see things through my eyes, stop rocking the boat, or get out of my sandbox!"
I know how drastically different and removed what God is showing me is from what I was ever taught by men. It is always amazing when the Lord brings forth something in His Word that has always been there, and allows you to see it for the first time with clarity. What is about to happen?
God has long been preparing a body of John the Baptists...and He is about to send them forth, crying "..Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God." [Isaiah 40:3] What was the ministry of John, and what did he say?
Luke 3:5-16 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then? He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise. Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do? And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you. And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages. And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not; John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable. And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.
What did Korah say?
Numbers 16:2-5 And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face: And he spoke unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even tomorrow the LORD will show who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.
What is coming?
Confrontation is coming. The same cry is once again going to come forth, "Repent! For the Kingdom of God is at hand!" and the religious world is going to be shocked and offended, responding as Korah did. "We are already holy, how dare you speak to us that way!"
Many today are offended by the application of scripture, when it is presented in a context that is contrary to their preconceived interpretation. Many are caught up in seeking after the next prophetic word, the next vision and supernatural wonder, without feeling any need or desire to try the spirits.
As believers, are we not charged to?
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Timothy 2:15Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
We are fast approaching the consummation of the ages! And it is not going to be like we have been taught!
Luke 8:17-18 For there is nothing hidden that shall not be disclosed, nor anything secret that shall not be known and come out into the open. Be careful therefore how you listen. For to him who has [spiritual knowledge] will more be given; and from him who does not have [spiritual knowledge], even what he thinks and guesses and supposes that he has will be taken away.
Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus.
Amen
